Dave fuels up for Used Car Wars

Used Car Wars

London, Tuesday 6 September 2016

Multi award-winning broadcaster, UKTV, has commissioned Used Car Wars (10x30'), a lively new series for its leading entertainment channel Dave. Set in the competitive, mischievous world of second hand car sales, Used Car Wars is produced by Renegade Pictures and will air on Dave in 2017, the show will also be voiced by actress and West End star Sheridan Smith.

These two salt-of-the earth dealerships in Derby have enjoyed years of masterful rivalry. Used Car Wars sees the eccentric wide boys from Car a Lot take on the straight-laced, well-oiled corporate machine that is Geoff Cox Used Cars. The Derby dealerships go head-to-head trying to convince punters to part with their cash, and whoever makes the most profit each week wins bragging rights.

The series offers unfettered access to the rivalry of the two dealerships, following their front office cat-and-mouse negotiations. With comical wind-ups and grievances galore, Used Car Wars will unveil the idiosyncrasies of each character as viewers see their strengths, weaknesses and individual foibles.

Hilary Rosen, deputy director of commissioning, said,

We are delighted to be working with Renegade Pictures on this new factual entertainment series for Dave. Used Car Wars will shine a light on a real-world car dealership rivalry and viewers will get to enjoy the daily pranks and wind ups that the sales teams play on each other. This format will provide an extremely entertaining insight into the highly competitive world of car dealerships.

Jonathan Levi, Renegade's executive producer, said,

Used Car Wars is a mix of forecourt flattery, back office banter and hilarious rivalry. This show is as much about the relationships between two dealers as it is about cars.

Steve North, Dave general manager, said,

Used Car Wars combines competition, humour and motors which will appeal to the Dave audience, making this a perfect new addition to the schedule. As the stakes are high and the rivalry is rife this series feels a perfect fit for Dave and viewers will love these bold new characters.

Used Car Wars has been ordered by UKTV's deputy director of commissioning, Hilary Rosen and Dave's general manager, Steve North. Harry Lansdown and Jonathan Levi will executive produce for Renegade, overseen by Hilary Rosen. Series director Anthony Pyke will accompany series producer Stephen Taylor Woodrow for Renegade.

Used Car Wars joins a raft of brand new UKTV Originals on Dave, including Dara O Briain's Go 8 Bit, a new series of Taskmaster and the return of Red Dwarf later this year.
