Dave gets political with new show, Unspun With Matt Forde

Unspun With Matt Forde

31 August 2016

A host who watches Prime Minister's Questions like it's Match of the Day, Matt Forde, the most exciting voice in political comedy, brings Unspun With Matt Forde to Dave from Wednesday 14th September at 10pm.

Recorded the day before it airs, Unspun With Matt Forde is a brand new show that features up-to-the minute reactions to the chaos gripping the British political system, interviews with leading politicians and political figures and special reports from guest comedians including Andy Zaltzman, Simon Evans, Al Green, Ayesha Hazarika and Francesco De Carlo. Matt will also be joined each week by his house band, MP4, the world's only parliamentary rock group whose members are all serving, or former politicians.

In a time where comedy feels like the only way to make sense of our bizarre political landscape, Matt will expertly dismantle political nonsense and celebrate the best and worst coming out of Westminster.

A former advisor to the Labour Party, Matt Forde has been acknowledged as the UK's leading political comic. Matt has appeared on The Royal Variety Performance (ITV), Have I Got News For You (BBC One), Mock The Week (BBC Two), Rory Bremner's Coalition Report and Rory Bremner's Election Report (BBC Two), 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Question Time, This Week (both BBC One), Newsnight and Daily Politics (both BBC Two). He also hosts a weekly show on talkSPORT with fellow comic Jon Richardson.

Matt Forde's London show, The Political Party, has been a sell-out during its monthly residency at Westminster's St James Theatre. Matt has brought Parliament to life with his stand-up and debate with some of the Government's most notorious figures, including Tony Blair, Alastair Campbell, Michael Portillo, Nigel Farage, Neil Kinnock, Jacob Rees-Mogg John Prescott, Jack Straw, Dame Tessa Jowell, George Galloway, Jim Murphy and Charles Clarke. The show is also released as a podcast which has been downloaded over 500,000 times, hit the top spot of the iTunes comedy chart, was picked as the Daily Telegraph's podcast of the week, picked as the Times podcast of the week and was nominated for the Internet Award in the 2015 Chortle Awards. Matt performed his brand new stand up show It's My Political Party (And I'll Cry If I Want To) to critical acclaim at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and sold out his entire month-long run for the third consecutive year.

MP4 are: Kevin Brennan MP (guitar and vocals), former MP Ian Cawsey (bass guitar and vocals), The Rt Hon Sir Greg Knight MP (drums and percussion) and Pete Wishart MP (keyboards and vocals).

Unspun With Matt Forde, a six part series, will start on Wednesday 14th September at 10pm on Dave.

Dave's had a haircut and shave in recent years as it grows from awkward teenager to fully-fledged commissioner of new and original shows.
