Good Food champions ground-breaking Google + hangouts for food TV industry

Valentine Warner

To mark the launch of the new and exclusive TV series, Valentine Warner Eats Scandinavia (TX 16th September, 8pm), Britain's leading pay food TV channel Good Food, is hosting its first Google + hangout. The event, presented by adventurous cook Valentine Warner, will be held on Friday 30th August.

The hangout entitled, Good Food presents? Valentine Warner?s Scandinavian Supper, will be a culmination of a three week social media campaign. An interactive Facebook app, which users can log into through Facebook, will host three recipes from the series, which viewers can vote to see cooked live in the hangout. Their vote will be broadcast as a post with the hashtag #EatScandi and will link back to the Good Food website. Here, users can see all the recipes from the show at goodfoodchannel.co.uk/eatscandinavia.

By voting, the viewer is automatically entered into the draw for the chance to win one of three places in the live cookery class, where they will be taught how to cook their Scandinavian dinner party, by Valentine Warner via the Google + hangout.

The three winners will be briefed by digital agency Crush London, who will project manage the competition. Once the successful entrants have been chosen, all the required ingredients will be delivered directly to their homes ahead of the event.

In the studio kitchen, Valentine will be joined by influential Scandinavian bloggers including Trine Hahnemann, who have a large online community following. They will be posing questions to Valentine throughout the one hour cookery masterclass, tweeted in by viewers watching in real time online.

General Manager of Good Food, Clare Laycock said

?The hangout is a first for the channel and the UKTV network. It's an innovative way in which to engage with the 27,013 Twitter followers, 28,070 likes on Facebook and the 9,116 Google + followers Good Food has amassed. It is an excellent opportunity for new viewers to find the channel and levy interest in our upcoming series, Valentine Warner Eats Scandinavia.?

Good Food?s Online Producer, Anna Sbuttoni added

"We're very excited to be hosting Good Food's first ever live cookalong with Valentine Warner to launch his new series. It will be a chance to preview Valentine's recipes from the show and ask him about his experiences as he explored Scandinavia. Scandinavian food is fresh and seasonal, which feels very relevant now. I hope that anyone who is interested in Scandinavian cooking will watch and take part."

For those who did not win one of the three live spaces, the hangout player will be embedded into the Good Food website, YouTube, Facebook app and Google + and will be supported by on air pushes. To keep viewers engaged throughout, prizes will also be given away during broadcast.
