UKTV hosts session on TV platform technologies for the Culture Secretary

Current TV technologies

UKTV held a meeting with the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Maria Miller at iBurbia Studios in London on 16 January.

The visit, hosted by top executives from UKTV, was organised to provide the Culture Secretary with an overview of current and future technologies in the delivery of TV programming and VoD content. The session also focused on the governmental policy matters that surround these newest platforms.

The right honourable Miller was welcomed by UKTV's Julia Jordan, Executive Director of Business and Operations and Emma Tennant, Controller. Following an introduction by Julia, Damien Read, Director of Consultancy at media strategy and research agency Decipher, delivered a practical presentation of the very latest ways to access linear and on-demand TV content. Informal and engaging discussion about the technology took place during the presentation, with the Culture Secretary and her accompanying party asking questions throughout.

UKTV's Ray Blaney, Director of Regulatory Affairs; Sam Terry, Senior Policy Adviser and Zoe Clapp, Communications Director also attended.
