UKTV, which employs 220 staff, has been decorated with the Best Companies One Star award for 2013 in recognition of high staff engagement and positive working culture. It was commended for its appealing working environment and workplace practices including the reinforcement of a clear set of values and behaviours, a focus on health and wellbeing, a grassroots CSR programme that supports the company's local community and democratically elected charities, and a dedicated ?Innovation Pot? budget to fund creative and entrepreneurial ideas from any corner of the business. Other honoured businesses in the One Star category this year include National Trust, BMW UK, EE, and Boots.

Darren Childs, CEO, UKTV said ?I'm extremely proud of UKTV for becoming the first ever broadcaster recognised by Best Companies but I want us to achieve more. Getting the culture right is the single most important thing in any business, we're really focused on this at UKTV and it?s no coincidence that as a result we are posting record reach, profits and market share.?

In 2013, UKTV celebrates its 21st year at the forefront of digital television following a year of record-breaking successes. It has recently launched new distribution channels including BT Vision, TalkTalk on YouView, UKTV On Demand and the iOS Dave Player in addition to incumbent platforms Sky and Virgin Media, and is overhauling all twelve of its popular websites around digital content and shareability through social media.
