UKTV?s flagship pay entertainment channel Watch has added 6 x 30? observational documentary series Bin There, Dump That to its growing slate of original commissions.

Produced by Sky Vision Productions, the series follows an eclectic mix of warm and compelling characters who love their jobs working in Britain?s waste industry.

UKTV senior commissioning editor, Catherine Catton, said,

The series delves into the lives of people who aren?t often in the limelight and is a surprising and genuinely uplifting piece of television.

Watch general manager, Steve North, who ordered the series added,

Bin There, Dump That is the latest in a line of exciting new shows coming to the channel in the next year. It demonstrates our commitment to investing in new and unique content for Watch. The enthusiasm and sense of humour of the characters is what makes the show so entertaining.

Bin There, Dump That meets self-made man, Andy Reston, who started out as a truck driver and now runs Waste Management Company, Reston Waste. His 19 year old daughter Harriet ditched her A-levels to become a Reston ?office Angel? and heiress to the company throne, and is soon to don high-vis and steel toe boots for her first lesson in HGV driving. There?s also Andy?s right-hand man and friend of thirty years, Danny Childs, who plays up to his self-appointed role as ?Chief of Entertainment? and Paul Black, who celebrated getting his full time job ?hurling bin bags? by getting a tattoo of the Tasmanian Devil leaning on a green Cherwell County District bin.

The series, which is scheduled to air at the end of this year, also meets renowned street cleaner J.D. who sweeps the pavements of North-West London during the week and then jets off to DJ in the superclubs of Milan on a Friday night; 50-year-old Denise James who combines high heels and high-vis to check for hazardous waste and the creative team behind Skip Hire Magazine, who enjoy crowning 'skip hire chick' and 'hunk of the month' in every issue.

The series is executive produced by Danny Tipping, Director of Programming & Development at Sky Vision Productions, who commented,

With the help of a fantastic cast featuring the unsung heroes of Britain's waste disposal industry, we're lifting the lid on this little known and surprising world. We're thrilled to be producing our first original ob doc for the channel.

UKTV has this year announced a host of original content for Watch, which attracts 14m individuals every month, including five TX pilots to debut later this year as part of the Formats Lab initiative. Entertainment show Singing in the Rainforest (5x60') and a third series of the hugely successful David Attenborough's Natural Curiosities (6x30') will premiere on the channel in 2015.
