THE UKTV LONDON2PARIS TEAM

THE UKTV LONDON2PARIS TEAM

We're cycling from London to Paris to raise money and awareness for UKTV's chosen charity in 2013, Pancreatic Cancer UK.

The ride is bringing together colleagues from across various departments of UKTV, including several members of the ELT. The team is comprised of committed cyclists to enthusiastic newcomers, all armed with the goal of raising £10,000 for charity.

To ensure every single penny raised goes to Pancreatic Cancer UK, we've organised every part of the ride ourselves; the routes; the routes, the vehicles, the hotels and the meals - everything has been achieved on the tightest of budgets, all funded soley by UKTV and the riders themselves.

The Details

This June, 27 UKTV staff members, will be cycling over 270 miles in three days, stopping at Calais and Amiens before coming to rest in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

Day 1

The team set off from beside the historic Cutty Sark in Greenwich and thread their way through South East London before pressing on into the rolling hills of Kent, arriving at Dover in time for an evening ferry to Calais.

Day 2

After a hearty French breakfast, the UKTV team depart Calais and head to the open countryside, sleepy villages and vineyards of Northern France, arriving, 99 miles later, in the market town of Amiens.

Day 3

The final push. Departing Amiens, the team climb through Beavais and Auitel before descending into Paris, through the Parc Natural du Vexin and on into the suburbs before hugging The Seine for four miles to the Arc de Triomphe and towards the Eiffel Tower for a well-deserved rest.

The Charity

Pancreatic Cancer UK is the only national charity fighting cancer on all fronts through support, information, campaigning and research and we're proud to be supporting the hard work this charity does. It provides an expert, personalised support and information service with the ultimate aim of enabling patients to enjoy an extended, happy and fulfilled life, bringing hope to them and their families.

Pancreatic cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death in both men and women. In the UK around 3,900 men and more than 4,000 women died of the disease in 2010. Pancreatic Cancer UK works closely with patients and their families and carers, clinicians and other healthcare professionals, researchers, politicians and policy makers to increase awareness of the disease and campaign to bring about change.

We hope that our cycle challenge will help support Pancreatic Cancer UK as it continues to strive for a long and good life for everyone diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
