UKTV Triathlon 2014

UKTV Triathlon 2014

The UKTV Triathlon promises to be this year's ultimate fundraising initiative. The triathlon, which is made up of cycling, walking and swimming events, spread across several months, has already attracted over 100 members of staff to sign up, which is more than half of our workforce.

The Big Walk will cover a distance of up to a 100km stretch of the Thames from Putney to Henley (25km or 50km options for the less hard-core!), to be completed within 24 hours, and The Big Swim will comprise a marathon lap relay involving swimmers of all abilities.

The first event to mark the start of the UKTV Triathlon will be The Big Cycle. This will see 37 cyclists pedalling 300 miles from London to Amsterdam in three days from 19 - 22 June 2014.

The Big Walk will take place on 13 September. It will join the Thames Path Challenge which covers the 100km route from Putney Bridge to Henley-On-Thames. With so far almost 50 staff members on board to take on the 24 hour challenge, it promises to be an exciting adventure.

The Big Swim will be the final challenge in our UKTV Triathlon. With over half the company taking part in one or more of the challenges, we hope to raise vital funds for our chosen Charity of the Year, COSMIC.

The Charity of the Year campaign was a huge success in 2013 with staff raising a total of £55,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, an average of £250 per head. In June last year 27 members of staff embarked on an enormously challenging 300 mile bike ride from London to Paris, which raised £41,000 - the biggest single charitable donation UKTV has made since it launched 21 years ago.

UKTV - CSR Achievements So Far

With another action-packed year of fundraising initiatives in 2014 including the UKTV Triathlon, we are aiming to beat last year's amazing achievement in support of COSMIC.
