Elbow lead singer and Radio 6 Music presenter, Guy Garvey, provides the voiceover for a new TV series on U&Dave and free streaming service U later this month.
Guy Martin: Proper Jobs sees the Grimsby-born former motorcycle racer attempt a different and demanding role in each episode. He tries his hand as a trawler deckhand off the coast of Devon, a wildlife warden on the remote Calf of Man island, trains to become a firefighter at the Fire Service College in the Cotswolds, and develops the skills required to be a Search and Rescue Dog Handler in the Highlands of Scotland.
Guy Garvey’s unique and distinctive vocal provides the voiceover to the series, setting the scene and background to Guy Martin’s adventures. Garvey, who doesn’t lend his voice to many TV series, chose to do so for Proper Jobs because of a special admiration for Guy Martin and his television shows.
"I love Guy Martin, I remember my dad did too so when I was asked to do this I said absolutely. Guy’s great and the series is brilliant.”
“Guy Garvey - he’s the man, isn’t he? I mean, I’ve been listening to him on 6 Music for years. That voice. You can’t beat that voice.”
Guy Martin: Proper Jobs starts on U&Dave on Sunday 26th January at 8pm and the entire series will be available to stream for free on U.
