Jason Flemyng, Tessa Peake-Jones, Lee Ingleby and Georgia Tennant join the cast for Bergerac, as hit drama returns to U for third instalment

Filming for a third series of Bergerac (6x60’), the re‑imagined take on the classic detective drama, is now underway ahead of its return to free-streaming service, , in 2027. Damien Molony reprises his role as Jim Bergerac, with a star-studded line-up including Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Black Mirror) as Alistair, Tessa Peake Jones (Grantchester, Only Fools and Horses) as Carol, Lee Ingleby (The Serpent Queen, The Long Shadow) as Dominic, and Georgia Tennant (Staged, The Horne Section TV Show) as Laura, joining the cast for the hit drama.

The six‑part U&Original series is created by Toby Whithouse, produced by BlackLight TV, part of Banijay UK, in collaboration with Jersey‑based Westward Studios and supported by Visit Jersey.

Since the re-imagined series hit screens in 2025, Bergerac has brought one of television’s most recognisable detectives to a new generation, blending Jersey’s striking landscapes with gripping contemporary crime stories. The second series of Bergerac, which launched in April this year on and U&DRAMA, was watched by an average of 1.3m viewers* across its 6-episode run, making it the second highest-rating series on U&DRAMA and across the UKTV network of 2026 so far, behind only the third series of The Marlow Murder Club**. The Series two launch helped to achieve U’s best week and best day of 2026 so far.

Zoë Wanamaker will return as Charlie Hungerford and Robert Gilbert as Barney Crozier, alongside Sasha Behar as Uma Dalal, Celine Arden as Kara Molloy and Luke Nunn as Simon Calvert.

Other guest stars include Sean Gilder (Slow Horses, Sherwood) as Les, Alexander Cobb (Grace, Towards Zero) as Jake, Sule Rimi (Day of the Jackal, Andor) as Jonathan, Matti Houghton (Believe Me, Grace) as Catherine, Liam Garrigan (Transformers, Belgravia) as Patrick, Elen Rhys (The One That Got Away, The Mallorca Files) as Esme, and Sebastian Armesto (Gangs of London, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Edward.

Bergerac embarks upon his most shocking case yet, when his only significant lead in a suspicious death is a DNA match to Jersey's most notorious unsolved case - the Devil's Hole murder. To solve the case in the present, Bergerac must dig deep into the past as he uncovers evidence of a satanic cabal that goes right to the heart of Jersey society.Meanwhile, with daughter Kim away at college, could Jim have finally met his perfect match when he meets down-to-earth physiotherapist, Laura (Tennant), whilst Charlie's life falls apart when she confronts a home intruder with devastating consequences.

We are thrilled to welcome the production team back for series three, showcasing even more of Jersey to new and longtime Bergerac fans.”

Bergerac has been commissioned by Helen Perry, head of drama commissioning at UKTV, and ordered by Emma Tibbetts, director of scripted programming, and Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning. Executive producers for BlackLight TV are Ben Bickerton, Philip Trethowan and Damien Molony, Brian Constantine is executive producer for Westward Studios, and Helen Perry and Claire Hookway will be executive producers for UKTV. Banijay Rights will handle international distribution for the series.

The third series will be written by Bergerac regular Brian Fillis, working alongside Catherine Tregenna and Ashley Sanders, and will be directed by Paul Wilmshurst (The Day of the Jackal) and Tracey Larcombe (The Hairdresser Mysteries, Catch Me a Killer), with Mike O'Regan as producer.

The latest series of Bergerac is available to stream for free on , with the new series set to launch in 2027. The series will also be available on free-to-air channel, U&DRAMA. The commission sits alongside other hit dramas on U, including The Marlow Murder Club, starring Samantha Bond, Jo Martin, Cara Horgan and Natalie Dew, and Outrageous, the true story of the Mitford sisters with Bessie Carter and Joanna Vanderham. Bookish, created, written by and starring Mark Gatiss, will also return to U&Alibi this August.
