“TV’s most likeable proper bloke” returns to tackle more demanding and dangerous trades in a new series of Guy Martin: Proper Jobs for U and U&Dave

UKTV is excited to announce a second series of Guy Martin’s Proper Jobs (4x60’), for U&Dave and free streaming service, U. Produced by North One, the series is currently in production and will air early next year.
The first series of Guy Martin: Proper Jobs saw the motorcycle racer, truck fitter, part-time farmer, enthusiastic engineer and sometime television presenter, attempt a variety of different roles including a shift as a firefighter, a wildlife warden on a remote island, a deckhand on a fishing trawler and a mountain rescue dog handler.
And Guy’s determination to tackle some of the most demanding, dedicated and skilful jobs in the UK, that perhaps don’t get the recognition they deserve, has not faded. For the new series, Guy will learn the challenges of being a miner in Britain’s deepest working mine in North Yorkshire, put himself in the fast lane as a truck rescuer on some of Britain’s busiest motorways in the East Midlands, dives in feet first as a lifeboat crew member on the Humber, and milks it as a dairy farmer in The Hebrides.

Guy will again immerse himself in each role, working side by side with his new colleagues and experiencing the realities of the job firsthand. He also explores the enduring cultural and local significance these professions hold in today’s world.
"I can't wait to get stuck in"
Guy Martin said, “Learning a new trade, especially one I know nothing about, is right up my street. The best way to understand this stuff is to chuck me in there with the people who’ve got years of experience and let me be a sponge, so yeah, I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
The second series of Guy Martin: Proper Jobs has been commissioned by Helen Nightingale, Head of Factual and Factual Entertainment Commissioning at UKTV and ordered for U&Dave by Adam Collings, Director of Programming, Factual & Factual Entertainment and Hilary Rosen, Director of Commissioning. Executive Producer for UKTV is Emile Nawagamuwa. Executive Producer for North One is Steve Gowans, and the Series Producers and Directors are Ewan Keil and James Woodroffe. Guy Garvey will also return to provide the voice over for all episodes.
UKTV’s Helen Nightingale said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with North One on a second series of Proper Jobs. Guy brings a genuine curiosity and respect for the people who do these demanding jobs day in, day out, he always gets stuck in and manages to do it with a smile on his face too.”
North One’s Steve Gowans said, “Working with U&Dave was a natural fit for Guy and we’re all properly delighted to be putting in another shift on more of the UK’s toughest - and most surprising – jobs.”
Adam Collings added, “I’m really looking forward to seeing how Guy copes with the new jobs in this series. Guy’s loveable and unique personality shone throughout the first series and showed exactly why he is so popular with our viewers.”
The first series of Guy Martin: Proper Jobs was nominated for Best Popular Factual Programme in the 2025 Broadcast Digital Awards and was a hit with viewers and critics alike. The series averaged 716k for total consumption and was the number one ranking U&Dave series on U during month of launch*. Meanwhile, the Radio Times said it was “a great watch” and after the first episode The Daily Telegraph proclaimed Guy as, “TV’s most likeable proper bloke”.
