Highlight of the week

The Pursuit of Love – On demand on U

The Pursuit of Love is a three-part romantic drama adapted from Nancy Mitford’s 1945 novel.

Emily Beecham as Fanny Logan and Lily James as Linda Radlett in The Pursuit of Love

Lily James and Emily Beecham star, alongside the likes of Dominic West, Andrew Scott, and Emily Mortimer (who also wrote and directed). The three-part series may not be the most obvious choice for Valentine’s Day viewing, but rather than selling the more typical “happily ever after,” romance, The Pursuit of Love explores why we chase love, what we sacrifice for it, and how messy it can be.

Wonderful costumes, a sharp wit and a cast that elevates everything, The Pursuit of Love is the perfect conversation-starter for a couple, or if you’re spending Valentine’s Day on your own, it feels validating rather than lonely. It is available on demand via the free streaming service, U.

The programme has received positive reviews from the Radio Times, who said, “each episode was a joy and a pleasure to watch” and received five stars from Lucy Mangan in The Guardian.
