Our Benefits

Our Benefits

We offer our staff a range of benefits such as 26 days holiday, private healthcare, life assurance, contributory pension bonus as well as some additional perks like a monthly contribution to your cable or satellite bill, regular social events, an early finish on Fridays and free breakfast cereals for you to enjoy when you start the day.

Opportunities for Development

Whether on the job or external training, UKTV is committed to fully training its staff to the highest level. You will go through a comprehensive induction programme in your first three months to equip you for your new job at UKTV.

Through the annual appraisal process and use of the personal development plans, we will work with you to identify any development which can help you grow in your role.

We have internal career coaches to help and support you to focus your career plans and we run a full programme of courses each year, which everyone is able to apply for. We work to an internal code of conduct and business ethics internally and acceptance onto courses is based on your individual requirement. We also support staff who wish to pursue professional qualifications.

In 2012 we launched the "Management Academy", a 12-month training course for managers who are new to UKTV or newly promoted. We believe that training and developing this level of management is crucial for helping improve staff engagement and therefore to the success of our business.

You can also come along to one of our ?Learning Lounges? where both internal experts from around the business as well as external contacts come and talk to you for an hour on their specialist areas. This is an informal forum where you can ask questions, learn about an area you might not normally get exposure to and have some fun.

There is a learning culture at UKTV, where we encourage informal learning like job shadowing as well as ensuring staff are able to attend relevant conferences.

Fun Stuff

We have a dedicated Social Committee that helps to make UKTV a fun and informal place to work and employees are encouraged to put forward their own ideas for clubs and activities. For example, we have a five-a-side football team called FC Dave that play in a league, a singing group that perform to the community, and the Tennis Club in the summer months. We also have a ?Knit and Natter? Club where those with a love of knitting can catch up with like-minded people within the company, the Cheese and Wine Club which has themed evenings and introduces staff to cheese and wines they may not have tried before, and several cake clubs (we have a very sweet tooth!).

Working in an open plan office gives us all a great opportunity to get the creative competitive juices flowing and as a result we have had some amazing desk decorating entries during Halloween and the festive season. Everyone gets involved, with many deploying fancy dress as their competitive weapon of choice, which makes for a great working atmosphere. It creates a buzz around the office, promotes the unique company culture at UKTV and encourages a strong work ethic ? we work hard because we can play hard.

Diversity

We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and job applications and encouraging diversity amongst our workforce. Our aim is that each employee feels respected and is able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment.

We do this by:

  • Providing equal opportunities in all aspects of employment from sourcing candidates and selection, recruitment and training of its employees, to terms and conditions of employment and termination of employment. For example:
  • Applications for vacancies will be sorted and selected for interviews in a fair and objective way, based purely on their suitability for the role.
  • Job descriptions will detail the requirements of the role that are necessary for the effective performance of the position concerned.
  • Reasonable adjustments will always be made for interview/assessment if it is highlighted by a candidate that they require them due to a disability.
  • Creating an environment in which individual differences and the contributions of all our staff are recognised and valued.
  • Providing a working environment that promotes dignity and respect to all. No form of discrimination, intimidation, bullying or harassment will be tolerated.

Our assurance - not to make assumptions about people's ability to carry out their duties based, for example, on their ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion or other philosophical beliefs, age or disability. Likewise, the Company will not make general assumptions about the capabilities, characteristics and interests of particular groups, which may influence the treatment of individuals, the assessment of their abilities or their access to opportunities for training, development and promotion.

UKTV does not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
