UKTV sets up second series of Dream Car Fixers for Yesterday and UKTV Play

Dream Car Fixers

Wednesday 27 March 2024 - UKTV has commissioned a second series of Dream Car Fixers (6x60') for leading factual channel Yesterday and free streaming service UKTV Play. Produced by Wiser Films, the first series is currently airing on the Yesterday channel on Tuesdays at 8pm.

Following the work of mechanic Sheldon Nichols and bodywork expert Peter Harriott, the pair work to a client's strict brief and budget to find a suitable car and carry out the inevitable mechanical fixes required. They then deliver the client their dream classic, and hopefully have enough budget left over to make a small profit on the job.

Among the cars featured in the first series was an MGB Roadster whose would-be-owner specified the chrome bumper model, a Fiat 500 with a specific interior and roof colour, and an original as possible Triumph Herald Convertible, as well as a Morris Minor Traveller, a VW Golf Cabriolet, a Volvo 850R, an Alfa Romeo Spider and a VW Beetle Cabriolet.

Dream Car Fixers has been commissioned for UKTV by commissioning executive Emile Nawagamuwa with head of factual and factual entertainment Helen Nightingale, and ordered by Yesterday channel director, Gerald Casey and director of commissioning, Hilary Rosen. Produced by Wiser Films, the production company that makes The Car Years, executive producer is Tas Brooker, and the second series producer is Dom Bowles.

UKTV's Emile Nawagamuwa said,

Sheldon and Peter have expertise and chemistry that you can only develop through seasoned experience and Dream Car Fixers perfectly captures how much they love their work and how much they care about making their clients happy. Wiser Films have brought a fantastic series to our screens, and I'm delighted that we can bring it back for a second series so soon.

Wiser Films' Tas Brooker said,

We're delighted to have a second series of Dream Car Fixers and we've loved working with the whole team at UKTV. We can't wait to see what cars Sheldon and Peter will be working on, and watch as they make more people's car dreams come true.

Gerald Casey said,

We really believe in Dream Car Fixers and wanted to show that with this second series commission before the first one has even finished going out on Yesterday. We know the appeal that classic cars can have - their history, nostalgia, and expertise required to keep them on the road - and this show conveys all of that superbly well.

The new series of Dream Car Fixers starts filming imminently and will TX on Yesterday and UKTV Play later in 2024. Meanwhile, the first series continues on Yesterday on Tuesdays at 8pm with all previous episodes available on demand on UKTV Play. Dream Car Fixers adds to Yesterday's garage of long-running classic car programmes which also includes fellow UKTV Originals, Bangers & Cash and Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics.
