Alibi expands US programme slate with new Fox acquisition

8 June 2016

Award-winning media company UKTV has acquired Rosewood, a new crime drama series from 20th Century Fox Television for its premium crime drama channel Alibi. The 22 episode medical crime drama stars Morris Chestnut (Nurse Jackie) as Dr Beaumont Rosewood Jr. The series debut on Fox in the US delivered an outstanding 9.0 million total viewers (Live +3). Rosewood premieres in the UK on Tuesday 26 July, 9pm, exclusive to Alibi.

Set in the vibrant and sultry Miami, Dr. Rosewood is the city's top private pathologist. Rosewood is as talented as he is charming. He partners up with the no-nonsense Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz, The After) to crack Miami's most challenging cases. Villa doesn't always go strictly by the book. She is tough and guarded but Rosewood's constant optimism is infectious.

Joining Rosewood state-of-the-art laboratory are his loyal team, his sister and 'toxicology queen' Pippy (Gabrielle Dennis, The Game), and her fiancée Tara, the DNA specialist (Anna Konkle, Man Seeking Woman).

Rosewood believes that every moment should be lived to the fullest. His lust for life is fuelled by a rare heart condition, a ticking time bomb which could kill him any second. But what drives him most are the victims whose chances are taken away from them.

Alibi premiered US FBI thriller, Quantico, in March, which achieved Alibi's highest debut audience of a US acquisition since 2011. With the successes enjoyed recently by firm favourites such as the Murdoch Mysteries and Death in Paradise, Alibi has also achieved its best day of the year on 10 April. This marks the start of an already standout year for the channel.

UKTV's director of acquisitions, Catherine Mackin, commented,

We are thrilled to be extending our relationship with 20th Century Fox Television and Rosewood is one of their most highly-rated series this season. We are delighted that UKTV is bringing this fantastic series to the UK.

UKTV's general manager of Alibi, Adrian Wills, says,

It's fantastic that this great new US series is coming to Alibi. We're really pleased with this excellent addition to our growing slate of brilliant new content. It fits really well with all our premium crime dramas, and will definitely appeal to the increasing ranks of Alibi fans.
