Alibi shows who’s King of crime drama with CBS deal

King & Maxwell

New scripted crime drama King & Maxwell stars Jon Tenney and Rebecca Romijn

UKTV has today announced the acquisition of scripted crime drama from CBS Studios International, King & Maxwell, which will premiere exclusively in the UK on Alibi ? TV's home of the best crime drama.

The series is based on the books of best-selling author David Baldacci and stars Jon Tenney (The Closer) and Rebecca Romijn (X-Men, Ugly Betty) as private investigators Sean King and Michelle Maxwell. Both are former Secret Service agents, who now use their unique skills and supreme connections to outsmart the bad guys and surpass conventional law enforcement. The roguish duo clash over everything, from her messy car to his love of wine over beer, but their chemistry is razor-sharp and irrefutably endearing.

Alibi?s General Manager, Steve Hornsey says

"Alibi?s loyal viewers love fast-paced, deductive narratives and the smart rapport between the lead characters will immediately appeal to them. The channel has proven success with best-selling book-based adaptations and we're delighted to add David Baldacci?s King & Maxwell to the content mix.?

Catherine Mackin, Director of Programme Acquisitions, UKTV, who brokered the deal, commented

"I am delighted to be continuing our successful partnership with CBS. King & Maxwell will complement Alibi?s existing crime drama slate including Castle and Rizzoli & Isles and it is another example of UKTV premiering hit US content to our viewers first, ahead of other UK broadcasters.?

King & Maxwell (10x60'), which is scheduled for Q1 2014, was produced by CBS Television Studios, in association with Shane Brennan Productions. Shane Brennan (NCIS: Los Angeles), who developed the series, serves as Executive Producer, alongside Grant Anderson (Third Watch) and Chris Downey (Leverage.) Karen Spiegel (Absolute Power) serves as producer and David Baldacci as series consultant.

Stephen Tague, Senior Vice President, Europe for CBS Studios International said

?We're thrilled to continue the successful partnership between CBS Studios International and UKTV. King & Maxwell has undoubtedly found its proper home amongst Alibi viewers, delivering them mysterious, funny and character-driven story lines.?

The series also stars Michael O'Keefe (Michael Clayton) and Chris Butler (The Good Wife) as F.B.I. Special Agents Rigby and Carter, who clash with King and Maxwell over their unconventional methods. In addition, Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy, Wanted) plays Edgar Roy.

King & Maxwell will air on Alibi alongside popular US drama acquisitions Rizzoli & Isles, Castle and Body of Proof, which are all achieving impressive ratings on the channel. Alibi reaches 5 million individuals every month.
