Dave drives off with new UKTV Original car-buying series

30th April 2018

UKTV has commissioned an exciting new car-buying series for its leading entertainment channel, Dave. The UKTV Original, Modern Wheels or Classic Steals (20x30'), sees one would-be car-buyer turn to presenters, Rebecca Jackson and Elo, for help in deciding which set of wheels they should splash their cash on.

Car dealer and racing driver, Rebecca tries to convince the buyer that a modern motor is the way forward, while fellow presenter, former model and car-collecting owner of The London Motor Museum, Elo, encourages them to embrace the past and opt for one of his classic choices.

Modern Wheels or Classic Steals has been ordered by UKTV director of commissioning, Richard Watsham and UKTV general manager - comedy & entertainment, Steve North, for Dave. Commissioned by Iain Coyle, the series is produced by Cactus TV and Simon Ross is the executive producer.

Iain Coyle, UKTV senior commissioning editor, said:

This is a simple, captivating format, produced by a team at Cactus who really know entertainment and really know their cars.

Dave channel director, Luke Hales, said:

We are excited to bring this show to life on Dave. We know how much our viewers love motoring content and we are sure they will love Modern Wheels or Classic Steals too. It has an entertaining format, and of course, lots of lovely cars.

Simon Ross said:

I know that Dave viewers will be amazed and tempted by the range of cool cars that Elo and Rebecca will be offering up across this series. It's 30 minutes of motoring eye candy backed up with expert advice on genuine buying options.

Modern Wheels or Classic Steals will TX on Dave later this year and will also be available on UKTV Play. It follows the success of brand new UKTV Original commissions already shown on Dave this year, Yianni: Supercar Customiser and Cop Car Workshop. Further UKTV Originals announced for Dave in 2018 include series six and seven of the BAFTA-nominated Taskmaster, as well as new formats, The Horne Section with Alex Horne, Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier and Judge Romesh with Romesh Ranganathan, and the return of scripted comedies, Zapped and Porters.
