28 March 2019

Leading independent distributor all3media international has secured a new primetime drama deal with UKTV. The broadcaster has picked up UK rights to Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries and The Bad Seed for its leading crime drama channel, Alibi.

From Every Cloud Productions, creators of the global hit Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, new 1960s-set spin-off Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries centres on the niece of iconic lady sleuth Miss Fisher. UKTV will premiere the eight-part series on Alibi on Wednesday 10th April and each episode will broadcast weekly at 9pm with a Sunday catch-up episode also available.

The deal follows Alibi's acquisition of all three series of the original Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. all3media international distributes both titles as part of its ongoing first look deal with Fiona Eagger and Deb Cox's Every Cloud Productions.

Also included in the deal is South Pacific Pictures' The Bad Seed, a thriller based on the books by bestselling author Charlotte Grimshaw. The five-part drama tells the story of two brothers from a dysfunctional family who have raised themselves up from the desperate days of their childhood, only to see their lives fall apart when one becomes a suspect in a murder.

Acquisitions Manager, Charlie Charalambous, who brokered the deal on behalf of UKTV, said:

I am delighted to have worked with all3Media to bring two brand new crime drama series to Alibi. Miss Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries is an exciting procedural spin-off to Alibi's long running period drama and The Bad Seed is a narrative, dark and brooding mystery thriller. Both shows are a perfect fit with Albi's brand and I'm sure they'll prove popular with viewers.

Alibi's Channel Director, Emma Ayech, added: "We are very excited to bring the next incarnation of Miss Fisher to our audiences, with Geraldine Halliwell sparkling as Phryne Fisher's long lost niece, and heir to her detecting skills."

Caroline Stephenson, SVP EMEA North at all3media international, also added: "We're delighted to build on our collaboration with UKTV and Alibi as we conclude this brand-new primetime drama deal. Both titles are shining examples of the premium, globally appealing drama delivering right now from our production partners in Australia and New Zealand. The Miss Fisher brand is well-established around the world and Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries retains all the much-loved elements of the original series whilst introducing a wonderfully engaging new lead character and new adventures set in a vibrant and exciting era."

"The Bad Seed is a dark and gripping murder mystery that explores family tensions, politics and the secrets people hide. This series is the first to show a darker side to Alibi that will thrill crime drama fans."

In new crime drama Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries, Peregrine Fisher (Geraldine Hakewell, Wanted) is every bit the embodiment of style, glamour and adventure. In 1960s Melbourne, Ms Fisher is directionless and seemingly doomed to a series of unsatisfying jobs, until fate hits the re-set button. When the famous aunt she never knew goes missing over the highlands of New Guinea, the gorgeously reckless Ms Fisher inherits a windfall and must prove herself brilliant enough to become a world class private detective in her own right.

Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries is an Every Cloud Production for Seven Network Australia in association with all3media international, Screen Australia, Film Victoria and Fulcrum Media Finance. Also starring Joel Jackson (Deadline Gallipoli) and Catherine McClements (Wentworth), the series is a spin-off of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, which all3media international has sold to more than 160 territories around the world.

South Pacific Pictures' The Bad Seed centres on Ford (Dean O'Gorman, Westside) and Simon Lampton (Matt Minto, Infini), two brothers from a family with a dark history. Simon has escaped his past to become a successful obstetrician, living in the best part of town with the seemingly perfect family. Older brother Ford, once estranged and still rough around the edges, is staying in the spare room and appears to be the only disruption to Simon's controlled life. But when Simon's neighbour is murdered, the investigation draws the household into a hurricane of scandal.
