Following UKTV's announcement of Alibi's first crime drama Traces last month, the award-winning network commissions UKTV Original crime drama We Hunt Together (6x60').

Produced by BBC Studios, the six-part thriller written by Gaby Hull (ITV's Cheat), begins with the collision of two extraordinary people; Babeni (Baba), a former child soldier desperate to suppress his predisposition for violence, and Freddy, a magnetic and disarmingly charming free spirit. When Baba rescues Freddy from an attack following a date that has turned sour, something dark is ignited in them both.

In this bold new take on the classic cat and mouse story, we also follow DS Lola Franks and DI Jackson Mendy as they try to outsmart the killers, despite their polar opposite outlooks on the culpability of the criminal mind. A psychological thriller and romance, We Hunt Together explores the dangerous power of desire and questions who is really to blame when the damaged do damage.

UKTV drama commissioner Philippa Collie Cousins said:

I was so gripped by Gaby's writing, We Hunt Together is a fresh, funny and dark roller coaster ride with filmic undertones that provide echoes of early Hitchcock or Tony Scott's True Romance and takes the genre one step further. Hilary Salmon and the truly brilliant team that she has put together are a joy to work with and it's very exciting to be making this show with them.

Alibi channel director Emma Ayech added:

We Hunt Together immediately stood out as a bold and original piece of writing. I'm thrilled that we are bringing it to Alibi as our second piece of original crime drama. Gaby Hull's script will take viewers on a wild ride that encapsulates the freshness we are looking for as the Alibi brand matures.

Hilary Salmon, Executive Producer, BBC Studios said:

It's fantastic to be working with Gaby and UKTV on this daring new drama about what happens when two damaged people collide and act out dormant compulsions. It promises to explore the intoxication of sexual attraction and the dangerous power of emotional manipulation, not one for the faint-hearted.

I'm thrilled that we're continuing to surpass our ambitions and to be working with such a brilliant team in bringing We Hunt Together to both the UK and our international audiences.

added BBC Studios Director of Drama, Martin Rakusen.

UKTV Original series We Hunt Together has been commissioned by Philippa Collie-Cousins with head of scripted Pete Thornton, and ordered by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning and Adrian Wills, general manager, Drama and Lifestyle.

We Hunt Together is written by Gaby Hull. BAFTA-winning Hilary Salmon (Three Girls, MotherFatherSon), Anne Pivcevic and Esther Springer are executive producers for BBC Studios. Casting and director will be announced over the coming months, with the series due to air exclusively on Alibi in 2020.

We Hunt Together is the second series to be jointly commissioned by UKTV & BBC Studios Distribution, with Traces from Red Production Company announced in February. They are the latest additions to UKTV's growing slate of scripted series including W's Anna Paquin-fronted Flack and Women on the Verge, co-created by Sharon Horgan and Lorna Martin.

BBC Studios is handling distribution internationally.
