ITN Productions tracks down first UKTV commission with ten-part police series

Fast Justice

19 February 2021

ITN Productions has secured its first commission for UKTV with a new ten-part series for the broadcaster's award-winning entertainment channel Dave. With exclusive access to the Suffolk Police, Fast Justice (10x60') is an observational documentary series following the force as they combat crime in the area. In a national first, a group of elite officers have been armed with state of the art Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology with instant access to a network of cameras across the country, and new, high performance, customised BMWs.

Known as the 'The Sentinels' - these officers are tasked with tracking down some of the UK's most serious criminals and getting them off the streets. Following real stories as they happen, the series features issues including drug trafficking, human trafficking, violent, serious and complex crimes. It highlights the challenges and criminal trends the Police in Suffolk are facing on a day-to-day basis.

Fast Justice is produced by ITN Productions. It has been commissioned for UKTV by Hilary Rosen, head of factual and factual entertainment, and ordered by Dave channel director Luke Hales and Steve North, genre general manager for comedy and entertainment. The series is executive produced for ITN Productions by Charlie Clay and Will Smith. DCD Rights will be distributing the series internationally.

Hilary Rosen, Commissioning Editor at UKTV said:

It's great to be working on our first commission with ITN Productions. The team there has gained hard-won access to a new way of policing crime hot spots and chasing down criminals driving crimewaves. Fast Justice promises to be an eye-opening and high octane series.

Will Smith, Executive Producer at ITN Productions said:

Fast Justice is an up close, unfiltered, exciting contemporary police series. We're with the Sentinels every step of the way as they target, hunt down and arrest some of the UK's most wanted criminals. With fixed-rigs in their high speed pursuit cars and filming at their intelligence hub, viewers will get a front-row seat as the drama unfolds.

Luke Hales added:

Packed full of hair-raising chases, adrenaline fuelled raids, and multiple arrests, I hope Dave viewers are strapped in and ready to go.

Fast Justice joins a plethora of new UKTV Original shows on Dave including Cops on The Rock, Mel Giedroyc: Unforgiveable and Adam Richman: Supperman. Popular series Comedian's Giving Lectures, Hypothetical, Sliced, Meet the Richardsons, and Expedition with Steve Backshall are also returning to the channel with new episodes.

Ever since it was knee high to a TV remote, Dave had an idea. It wanted to be the first place viewers would come for brand-new, award-winning entertainment from the biggest and brightest stars and production companies in the UK. And in the years since, it has launched some of the most exciting and best-loved titles on TV. There are names like BAFTA and Emmy-nominated Taskmaster - now in its ninth series -, Judge Romesh, Hypothetical, Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier and Comedians Giving Lectures. And of course there's Dave Gorman, whose inquisitive mind is returning to the channel for Terms and Conditions Apply. It's not just in front of the camera where the comic genius lies either, with a wealth of scripted treasure such as Sliced, Porters and the globally popular Red Dwarf.

Dave's not content just to make you laugh and share gags with your mates though. Expedition with Steve Backshall and Hurricane Man are showing you regions and aspects of the earth never before seen on TV. Red Bull Soapbox continues to delight with its boundless capacity for invention. And stepping away from the TV entirely, Dave's partnered with CALM to launch the "Be The Mate You'd Want" campaign and the "Conversations Against Living Miserably" podcast.

Reaching 20million viewers a month, Dave's come a long way, but it's only just getting warmed up.
